Our Story

History

More than a year has passed since we set out on a journey to help those in need. It all started with a couple of friends who created a WhatsApp group with a mission: to use our privilege to help those who can’t help themselves. Whenever we identified a family that could use our help, we humbly lent them a helping hand. 1 family became 2, 2 became 4, and 4 became 8 until we were contributing to thousands households on a regular basis – all with the help of our generous contributors.

Who we are?
We are a small group of individuals called Here2Help serving the ‘daily wage workers’ in Pakistan. We are a group of professionals (engineers, doctors, IT specialist,CEO’s) working for several organizations on a management level.

Why are we doing this?
In the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic and the inevitable lockdown, millions of daily wage workers in the country are struggling to sustain a living and support their families, as they face unemployment or reduced business activity.
With the number of confirmed cases crossing the 20,000 mark and rising day by day, Pakistan stands as the second worst hit country in South Asia.

You have helped us support more than 13,000 families worst hit by COVID-19 pandemic with 15,000 ration bags. Now is the time to extend the support and fill their lives and yours with blessings, compassion, and gratitude.

We have created an essential family grocery package; each ration bag contains essential grocery items, such as flour, rice, soap, cooking oil, salt, dates, and lentils etc. for a family of four to survive for up to 30 days.

Here is how you can support our cause and donate funds for the grocery bags:

Support 1 family for 30 days by donating $12

Why Pakistan

Poverty in Pakistan has fallen dramatically, independent bodies supported estimates of a considerable fall in the statistic by the 2007-08 fiscal year, when it was estimated that 17.2% of the total population lived below the poverty line.

The declining trend in poverty as seen in the country during the 1970s and 1980s was reversed in the 1990s by poor federal policies and rampant corruption.

This phenomenon has been referred to as the “poverty bomb”. In 2001, the government was assisted by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in preparing the Interim Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper that suggests guidelines to reduce poverty in the country.

According to a report submitted by Ministry of Planning and Development in the National Assembly of Pakistan, about 29.5% Pakistani lived below the poverty line which translates into 55 million people.

Wealth distribution in Pakistan is slightly varied, with the top 10% of the population earning 27.6% and the bottom 10% earning only 4.1% of the income.

Pakistan generally has a low gini co-efficient and therefore a decent distribution of income (relatively lower inequality).

According to the United Nations Human Development Report, Pakistan’s human development indicators, especially those for women, fall significantly below those of countries with comparable levels of per-capita income.
Pakistan also has a higher infant mortality rate (88 per 1000) than the South Asian average (83 per 1000).

As of 2017, the Asian Development Bank reports that there are approximately 210 million people living in Pakistan. In 2011, 12.4% of Pakistanis live below in Pakistan’s definition of poverty. Statistics vary due to the definition of poverty.

According to the World Bank, poverty in Pakistan fell from 64.3% in 2002 to 29.5% in 2014. Poverty headcount ratio at $1.90 a day (2011 PPP) (% of population) 6.1% in 2013 to 3.9% in 2015 [11] Pakistan has made substantial progress in reducing poverty giving it the second lowest headcount poverty rate in South Asia.
AidData cites the World Bank and states that overall “Pakistan has done well in converting economic growth into poverty reduction.

OPERATIONS

Grocery distribution is done strictly & only to our qualified families. We go by ourselves to check each family, fill up our standard form with all the details like monthly / source of income, family members, Date of visit Address Contact numbers. This way all donors can have full transparency n convince more people to participate.

From the outset we established teams, centrally & locally, to monitor the situation, respond quickly and act appropriately to help all those in need. Special teams are in place to provide grocery packages which can last up to15 days for a family of 4 people. Distribution is done according to a very stick system to make sure those who need it the most are served first
